LimeWire, the once-notorious file-sharing platform, has purchased the Fyre Festival brand for $245,000 in a deal finalized through eBay. The acquisition marks an unlikely convergence of two infamous names in digital culture—one synonymous with early internet piracy, the other with catastrophic event planning.

The relaunched LimeWire, now operating as a music-focused NFT platform under new leadership, explicitly ruled out reviving the ill-fated festival. Instead, it plans to leverage the brand's meme status for undisclosed "real experiences." The original 2017 Fyre Festival became a byword for hubris after failing to deliver promised luxury accommodations, leaving attendees stranded with prepackaged sandwiches.

Company COO Marcus Feistl emphasized this is not an attempt to recreate past failures: "We're here to own the meme and do it right." LimeWire has opened a waitlist for future announcements about its plans for the acquired brand.
